Dr. Marcus & Patsy Newsome

Dr. Marcus J. Newsome currently serves as the Director of Christian Education responsible for the National Christian Academy, National Bible College & Seminary, Adult Education and Family-Youth-Children-Nursery Ministries. Has been a member of National for over 30-years; ordained as an Elder in 1992, a member of the Pastoral Staff, Pastor’s Council and Board of Trustees.

 

Originally from Ahoskie, NC, Dr. Newsome is the grandson of sharecroppers, and son of a school custodian and World War II Veteran. He is a career educator, former Harvard University Associate Professor, and retired superintendent (responsible for 8,000 employees and a half $Billion budget). Dr. Newsome currently serves as the Director of the Virginia Superintendents Leadership Academy. He has earned two doctorate degrees, one in Religions Education and one in Educational Leadership. Dr. Newsome is the husband of Patsy, father of Lynnell (TJ-spouse), Marcus Jr., and Phillip (Amanda-spouse), and grandfather of Jayson and Jordan.

 

His favorite scripture is Micah 6:8 -- “He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God.”
