Moreover, it signifies your humble recognition that your child is ultimately entrusted to you as a sacred responsibility, belonging to God. By undertaking this dedication, you solemnly commit to guiding your child through the path of righteousness, imparting the principles of holiness, and nurturing an appreciation for the abundant blessings bestowed upon us by God.

What is a baby dedication?

The dedication of children is a Christian act of giving children to God for His glory. It is important for parents to be believers themselves before dedicating their child.

The scriptural root of a baby/child dedication is found in 1 Samuel 1:27–28 (NASB), where a godly woman named Hannah prayed year after year for God to give her a child. He answered her prayer, and she gave birth to a son, whom she named Samuel. When Samuel was born, Hannah prayed these words:

"For this boy I prayed, and the Lord has given me my petition which I asked of Him. So, I have also dedicated him to the Lord; as long as he lives he is dedicated to the Lord."

If you are willing to oversee your child’s Christian development, then we are honored to dedicate them to the Lord. By dedicating your child to God, you commit yourself to maintain a Christian home where Christ is honored, and the word of God is believed and obeyed. A child’s first impression of God comes from you, so you must strive to live like Christ. Baby dedication is not a one -time event, but rather a lifestyle of church attendance, service, and involvement. It is an active Christian life example in the home of love, and dedication to one another, and to the disciplines of prayer and study.
